I used to think the best way to earn trust was to always have the right answer.
Show up polished.
Confident.
Like I had it all figured out.
I’ve learned that’s actually the thing that keeps people at arm’s length.
Here’s what I want to talk about today…
Being real builds trust faster than being impressive.
When people can see who you actually are, they know what to expect from you.
And when people know what to expect, they can relax around you.
No wondering about what version of you might show up today.
That’s a gift.
You know what else happens when you get real?
The false expectations start to fall away.
The ones other people have of you.
The ones you’ve been quietly carrying.
When you stop performing, you stop inviting people to fall in love with a version of you that doesn’t exist.
That’s not vulnerability.
That’s kindness.
And here’s the truth about trust…
It doesn’t grow in the polished moments.
It grows in the honest ones.
The “I don’t know yet” moments.
The “that was hard for me too” moments.
The “here’s what I’m still figuring out” moments.
Those moments are a bridge.
A bridge that invites people into authenticity.
And that has power.
Because trust is powerful.
I’ve learned that the people who build the deepest trust aren’t the ones with the most answers.
They’re the ones willing to be seen.

Not the highlight reel.
Not the version you bring to the meeting.

That’s actually the whole point.
